The MB Sheep Association held its first annual Jackpot Market Lamb Show in conjunction with Ag Ex  on October 28 & 29 at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, MB.

Here are the results:

Grand Aggregate Champion – Lot 22, John Lewis

Reserve Champion – Lot 42, Jo Walker

1st place overall (judging) – Lot 22, John Lewis

Fan Favourite – Lot 36, Daniel Goodsman

Highest Scoring Lamb Determined by Ultrasound – Lot 22, John  Lewis

Other finishers:

2nd highest scoring lamb determined by ultrasound – Lot 1, Toby Wessing

2nd highest fan favourite – Lot 22, John Lewis

50/50 Winner – Joel Lewis

MSA Jackpot Market Lamb Show Details

The MB Sheep Association is very excited to announce that we will be having a Jackpot Market Lamb Show in conjunction with Ag Ex  on October 28 & 29 at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, MB.

Details:

  • Lambs have to be ewes or wethers weighing between 100 and 130 lbs. They will be shown in 3 weight splits (100-109,110-119 & 120-130).
  • There will be 4 ways to win $$$.
  • Highest scoring lamb determined by ultrasound measurement (loin eye size, back fat depth) etc and correlation to grid scale-  $1000 prize
  • 1st place as determined by an accredited judge.- $1000 prize
  • 1st place as determined by fan selection – $1000 prize
  • Grand Aggregate Champion will be the lamb that collects the most points through the 3 different selection methods – $3000 prize
  • Reserve Grand Aggregate Champion will be the second place lamb overall –  $1500 prize

MB Fibre Festival – Fleece Competition

MB Fibre Festival – September 9/10

The Manitoba Sheep Association is pleased to participate in the Manitoba Fibre Festival.  Come visit us at our booth at Red River Exhibition Place (3977 Portage Ave, Winnipeg) during the show as follows:

Friday September 9,  5:00 – 9:00 pm

Saturday September 10,  10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Please be reminded of the Fleece Competition taking part in conjunction with the show.  Fleeces need to be at the Red River Ex site by noon on Fri, Sept 9, in a clear plastic garbage bag and $10 entry fee/fleece.  Entry forms are on the Festival website or at the festival.  Questions can be directed to Gerry Oliver, gerry@spiritsands.ca

2022 MSA ELECTIONS

2022 MSA ELECTIONS

The following MSA Board positions are up for election for a two year term:

Eastern District
Northwest District
Western District

Additionally, the Board will have one director at large position up for election.

If you are interested in putting your name forward for a Director at Large position, you must let the MSA office know by September 20th, 2022.  Nominations for district representatives can be made from the floor at the respective district meeting.
