April 1, 2018:  Shearing Course Opportunity

A two-and-a-half-day shearing course will take place at Tony Atkinson yard in Brandon starting Friday afternoon, May 25th-27th.  Open to beginners and experienced shearers who wish to improve their technique. Cost will be $300 for the full course and instructors will be Brian Greaves and Chris Eddy. Equipment will be supplied by CCWG and will be available for purchase at the end of the course. Instructions on wool preparation will also be given on Saturday afternoon and is open to any producers (at no cost) wanting to learn how to prepare their wool for the best financial returns. Limited space available so book early

 Sept 4 2015 - Bluetongue Confirmed in Ontario

Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs

On August 7, 2015, samples collected from an animal in an Ontario abattoir as part of the national Bovine Serological Surveillance program returned a positive result for Bluetongue serotype 13. The positive animal did not show any clinical signs of the disease prior to slaughter. On September 2, 2015, follow up testing on the farm of origin, which is located in southwestern Ontario, detected two other positive animals. None of the animals had ever left the farm nor were there any US import animals on the premises.

Effective April 1, 2014, anaplasmosis will be removed from the list of federally reportable diseases and placed on the list of immediately notifiable diseases.
