Privacy Policy

The Manitoba Sheep Association Inc (MSA) is committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use and safeguard the personal information you provide to us.

Information Collected

You become a member of the MSA by purchasing Canadian Sheep Identification Program tags (National ID Tags), when you will pay a mandatory but refundable fee (check-off) to the MSA. If you choose not to request a refund of the fee you become a member of the MSA. When you purchase tags you must provide certain personal contact information including name, address, phone numbers, number of tags purchased etc. At the time of purchase you agree that the tag seller may pass on this information to the MSA. We may also request you to provide additional information such as e-mail address for the purpose of communicating with you in an efficient manner. If you request a refund of fees within the time frame required, we will refund you your fees and you will not be a member of the MSA. We will, however, still hold your personal information in our database.

Use of Personal Information

Since the mandate of the MSA is to support and conduct of programs and activities designed to stimulate and improve the economic well being of all segments of the Manitoba Sheep Industry. Personal contact information collected from members may be used to contact you with industry news, market information, distribution of news letters, information concerning meetings, extension activities, membership information etc. We may also share your personal contact information with the Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives Sheep and Goat specialist for the purpose of notifying you of information that we feel might be of value to you as a sheep producer. Access to a password protected "members only" section of the new MSA web site will be granted. This information will not be made available to the general public.

Another function of the MSA is to give sheep producers the opportunity to network with other members directly. This is done in part by listing members on the "password protected" section of the MSA website. In the event you are a member of the MSA and you do not wish to give other members the opportunity to contact you, please request the Privacy Officer to remove your name at privacyofficer@mbsheep.ca.

When you become a member, you also have the option of not sharing your personal contact information with other members. Simply notify us of your wish not to share this information at the time you become a member. If you are already a member and wish to remove your name from the shared member list, you can do so by contacting the Privacy Officer at privacyofficer@mbsheep.ca.

If you receive correspondence from the MSA and you wish to be removed from our mailing list, we will stop contacting you on request by your emailing us at privacyofficer@mbsheep.ca or by you replying to our correspondence directly.

We may disclose information when legally required to do so. In other words, we will disclose information when we in good faith believe that the law requires disclosure for the protection of our legal rights.

Access to Information

You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing the Privacy Officer at privacyofficer@mbsheep.ca

If you have any questions about this privacy policy, the use of your personal information, or do not wish to be contacted by us please advise us accordingly.
