A member in good standing is a producer who has purchased sheep tags and has not requested a check off refund in the past year. To become a member of MSA you must purchase your government tags from the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers (CCWG) and thereby pay a check off fee of $1 per animal. The new government tags are yellow, have a 9 digit sequence and have a radio frequency identification chip (RFID) for traceability. Previous to March 2013, the Manitoba Sheep Association paid a membership fee based upon provincial sheep numbers to the Canadian Sheep Federation. Now, when producers purchase their tags for Manitoba through CCWG they will pay 25 cents per tag for the Canadian Sheep Federation (CSF). The CSF represents the interests of the provincial organizations and is our national voice.
All animals transported must have a tag. Premise Identification is mandatory, however, it is not being enforced. You will be asked for your premise ID number. To obtain one - complete this application and mail or email it to the contact information at the bottom of the page. Download application 2012 District Map
